Direct flights between Iraq and Pakistan have resumed after an 86-day gap, with Iraq Airways operating its first arrival from Baghdad to Karachi early this morning.
According to flight details, Iraq Airways flight IA-409 landed in Karachi at 4:53am with passengers on board, marking the restoration of direct service on the route.
The return flight, IA-410, later departed Karachi for Baghdad at 7:14am.
The route had remained suspended for nearly three months. The last direct flight from Baghdad to Karachi had arrived on February 28, while flight IA-409 had last landed in Karachi on February 15.
Two additional flights on the same route had also been scheduled for May 2 and May 3, but were cancelled.
With the latest operation now completed, direct connectivity between Baghdad and Karachi has formally resumed.
Iraq Airways is also expected to launch flights from Baghdad to Islamabad soon, which would further improve direct air links between the two countries.
The resumption is likely to provide relief to travelers who had been facing inconvenience due to the prolonged suspension of direct operations on the route.
