LAHORE: The Bank of Punjab has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Stacks to transform Pakistan’s remittance landscape and advance its digital financial ecosystem.
According to a press release, the partnership was formalised on Wednesday with an agreement signed by Chief Executive and President Zafar Masud and Stacks co-founder Muneeb Ali.
The announcement said that by combining Stacks’ technology with the BOP’s banking operations, the collaboration aims to deliver faster, safer, and more transparent cross-border payments, enhancing accessibility and convenience for overseas Pakistanis.
As part of the initiative, they will undertake a pilot transaction to explore the use of stablecoins for remittance, assessing how blockchain-based solutions can improve speed, reduce costs and increase transparency in cross-border payments.
The initiative reflects commitment to financial inclusion and innovation, contributing to a stronger, more connected and digitally empowered Pakistan.
