The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has launched summer camps in public and private schools across summer-zone districts to help students recover learning losses caused by the temporary four-day school week during the recent fuel crisis.

According to guidelines issued by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, the camps will run from June 1 to June 30, 2026. Students in Grades III to VIII will attend classes from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., focusing on English, Urdu, Mathematics, and General Science.

Kindergarten and students in Grades I and II are exempt from the program.

Education Secretary Mohammad Khalid said the initiative aims to regain instructional time lost during the petroleum shortage and improve students’ academic performance. Schools will prioritize foundational literacy, numeracy, remedial learning, and activity-based teaching methods.

Secondary and higher secondary students will also participate in the camps, while intermediate students appearing in annual practical examinations will be exempt on exam days.

The department has directed schools to devote camp hours exclusively to academic activities and avoid assemblies, sports events, and other co-curricular programs.

Authorities will assess the effectiveness of the camps through evaluations conducted by the Directorate of Curriculum and Teacher Education.

Top-performing teachers and students will receive awards and cash prizes at district-level closing ceremonies scheduled for June 30.

Schools have also been instructed to continue enrollment campaigns during the camp period and ensure the availability of basic facilities, including clean drinking water, functioning washrooms, and electricity.
