Lahore has established five temporary cattle markets along with the permanent Shahpur Kanjran Model Cattle Market ahead of Eid ul Adha as authorities shift toward a centralized livestock trading system across the city.

Under the new arrangement introduced by the Punjab government, sacrificial animals are being redirected to officially designated sale points instead of the roadside camps and neighborhood cattle stalls commonly seen during previous Eid seasons.

The temporary cattle markets have been set up at Saggian, Wagah Sports Complex, Burki Road, LDA City, and Raiwind, while Shahpur Kanjran will continue operating as the city’s permanent model cattle market under the Punjab Cattle Market Management and Development Company (PCMMDC).

Officials said the move aims to reduce traffic congestion, improve sanitation conditions, and discourage illegal roadside livestock trading inside residential areas.

According to authorities, the largest temporary market has been established at LDA City on nearly 65 acres, while Wagah Sports Complex covers around 50 acres. The Saggian and Raiwind sale points each span approximately 25 acres.

Animal arrivals and public visits have already started, while full trading activity is expected to intensify during the coming weeks ahead of Eid ul Adha.
