Sindh Police has announced security support for citizens withdrawing large amounts of cash from banks amid a rise in street crimes targeting bank customers.

The move comes as incidents of robbery involving people leaving banks with cash continue to surface in the city.

To spread awareness about the facility, banners have been placed outside banks by different station house officers, asking citizens to contact police if they need security while carrying heavy cash amounts.

The initiative is aimed at protecting bank customers who may be vulnerable to muggings after making withdrawals.

However, despite the announcement, many citizens are reportedly not availing the security service. The low response is being seen as a sign of weak public trust in the police, even as the department tries to present the facility as a preventive step against cash-related robberies.
