Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho has announced strict action against vehicles without number plates, stating that violators will now face FIRs instead of routine challans.

Speaking about ongoing enforcement efforts, the IGP said police have intensified a crackdown across Karachi, using Safe City cameras to identify traffic violators.

He added that authorities are leveraging technology to ensure effective monitoring and enforcement of traffic laws.

Odho revealed that the number of surveillance cameras in Karachi has increased significantly, rising from 30,000 to 40,000.

He urged traders and citizens to install additional cameras to further strengthen the city’s monitoring system.

The IGP also noted that Sindh has aligned its e-challan fines with Punjab’s rates, adding that penalties in Punjab have recently been increased further.

The move aims to improve compliance with traffic regulations and enhance road safety across the province.
