The Sindh government has ordered an immediate reduction in public transport fares following a Rs. 32.63 per liter cut in the price of high-speed diesel.

The Sindh Transport Department has directed transporters to pass the full benefit of the fuel price reduction on to passengers.

The order applies to buses, minibuses, coaches, vans and other public service vehicles operating across the province. Transporters have also been instructed to prominently display updated fare lists on vehicles and at bus terminals.

Transport authorities have been directed to conduct daily road checks and inspect public transport vehicles to ensure compliance. Strict action will be taken against operators found charging passengers above the officially approved fares.

According to the department, violations could result in fines, suspension of route permits and cancellation of vehicle fitness certificates.

Relevant officials have also been ordered to submit daily implementation reports to the Sindh Transport Department.

The directive follows the government’s decision to reduce the price of high-speed diesel by Rs. 32.63 per liter. The new price has been set at Rs. 363.06 per liter.

The reduction in diesel prices is expected to lower operating costs for transporters, with the Sindh government now requiring passengers to receive the benefit through lower fares.
