Sharjeel Inam Memon announced on Monday that the Sindh government had approved the procurement of 500 electric buses under a public-private partnership initiative to expand the province’s public transport network.

The announcement was made during a Sindh Assembly session after MQM-P lawmaker Naseer Ahmed raised concerns over the absence of public transport facilities in Karachi’s Manghopir area and urged the government to provide transport services for residents.

Responding to the issue, Sharjeel Memon said the provincial government was extending its transport network and would soon launch bus services in Orangi, Banaras, and several other areas of Karachi.

He added that the government was also expanding transport facilities in other parts of Sindh, with new routes already launched in Tando Allah Yar, Khairpur, and Rohri.

The senior minister further informed the assembly that a new transport route in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Maymar area had also become operational.
