The district administration on Thursday allowed tourists to travel to Saiful Muluk Lake after revoking its weeklong ban on recreational activity at the popular destination amid monsoon-related safety concerns.
Assistant Commissioner Hasrat Khan said the deputy commissioner issued a fresh order allowing travel to the lake under standard operating procedures designed to ensure visitor safety.
He said the decision was taken after weather conditions improved and a report from the local civil administration supported lifting the restriction.
Traders in Kaghan had staged a rally on Wednesday, demanding that the ban be withdrawn.
According to the new notification, tourists will be allowed to travel to Saiful Muluk Lake between 9:30 am and 4 pm.
The order said Naran police will strictly enforce the schedule so that no visitor can leave for the lake before the approved time or remain there after closing hours.
It also empowered police to close the road linking Naran with Saiful Muluk Lake immediately if weather conditions worsen or if there is any risk of landslides or cloudbursts in the high-altitude area.
The earlier ban had been imposed as a precaution during the monsoon season, when authorities feared landslides and cloudbursts could threaten tourists in the valley.
