The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has moved a step closer to awarding the contract for the construction of a proposed cricket stadium near the Margalla Hills, with the opening of financial bids expected in the coming days.

According to sources, the civic agency has received revised designs and supplementary financial bids from the two shortlisted joint ventures. After completing a technical review, the supplementary bids will be uploaded to the PPRA’s E-PAD portal, with financial bids expected to be opened a week later.

The proposed stadium will be built near Sector D-12 at the foothills of the Margalla Hills. It is planned to have a seating capacity of around 32,000 spectators, along with parking for 10,000 vehicles located about one kilometer from the venue.

The project will be developed under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model, with Habib Construction and ZKB-EA competing against Lemar Builders and BK Consultants Pvt Ltd for the Rs. 11.4 billion contract.

The CDA and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) aim to develop the venue on the model of the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The stadium is planned on around 50 acres of the proposed Olympic Village, which spans 175 acres.

Officials said the project is progressing steadily, with construction expected to begin after the contract is awarded and the bidding process is completed.
