Rising temperatures and inflation have driven up the prices of room coolers, khus grass, cooler motors and maintenance services, placing additional financial pressure on consumers during the summer season. The cost of replacing khus in a small cooler now ranges from Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 2,700, while filling a large Lahori cooler costs between Rs. 3,500 and Rs. 3,800. For jumbo-sized coolers, the cost has climbed to as much as Rs. 5,000.

According to traders, prices of cooler-related products have increased by around 40 percent this year. A durable cooler motor now sells for approximately Rs. 4,000, while motors designed for solar-powered and battery-operated coolers cost up to Rs. 2,000. Water pumps are available in the range of Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,000.

Room cooler prices have also risen sharply. A small cooler that sold for around Rs. 8,000 three years ago now costs between Rs. 14,000 and Rs. 15,000. Medium-sized units have increased from Rs. 11,000 to Rs. 18,000, while large coolers now sell for about Rs. 23,000, compared to Rs. 15,000 previously.

Traders said some retailers are offering coolers on 12-month installment plans, with customers paying an additional cost of around Rs. 5,000. Premium branded models with newer designs are currently priced between Rs. 35,000 and Rs. 40,000.

Demand for air-conditioner maintenance services has also surged. AC cleaning services now cost around Rs. 3,500, while gas refilling charges have increased from about Rs. 4,000 to as much as Rs. 10,000. Due to the increased workload, technicians are reportedly taking two to three days to respond to service requests.
