Punjab will establish Pakistan’s first University of Sports Sciences to promote modern sports education and strengthen sports culture across the province.
The announcement was made by Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs M Ali during a visit to the Institute of Sports Sciences Punjab (ISSP).
He said the upcoming university will be equipped with all modern sports-related facilities and will play a key role in advancing professional sports development.
“The University of Sports Sciences will have all modern sports-related facilities. Punjab Sports Department is adopting all modern techniques for the development of sports culture across the province,” he said.
M Ali was accompanied by Director Admin Abid Shaukat, ISSP Principal Shaista Qaiser, senior coach Raisur Rehman, and other officials during the visit.
During the visit, the secretary reviewed an ongoing capacity-building course for sports officers and coaches. He said the program is designed to equip participants with modern training methods that will help improve player development and enable them to organize sports events in a professional manner in their respective areas.
He added that highly qualified master trainers and PhD-level experts have been engaged to conduct the training and support the professional development of sports officers and coaches.
