Pakistan fast bowler Aimen Anwar has announced her retirement from international cricket with immediate effect, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said.
The 29-year-old represented Pakistan in eight One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 37 T20 Internationals between July 2016 and February 2023.
She finished her 45-match international career with four wickets in ODIs and 29 wickets in T20Is.
Aimen Anwar made her international debut against England in Southampton in 2016, becoming the 37th player to represent Pakistan women in T20Is. She made her ODI debut against Bangladesh in Colombo in 2017 as Pakistan women’s 76th ODI cap.
She was part of Pakistan’s squads for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cups in 2018, 2020 and 2022-23. She also represented the country at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 in New Zealand.
Aimen Anwar first emerged on the domestic scene while representing Karachi Under-19 in the PCB National Under-19 Women’s Championship in January 2010.
More recently, she has worked as a broadcaster and has also moved into match officiating. She made her debut as a match referee in the ongoing National Women’s Under-19 Tournament after successfully completing her induction course in January.
Her retirement brings an end to an international career with Pakistan that spanned nearly seven years.
