The Punjab government has decided to make all government offices across the province completely paperless as part of its ongoing efforts to promote e-governance and digital administration.
The decision was taken during a Secretaries’ Conference chaired by the Chief Secretary, Punjab, at the Civil Secretariat. The meeting was attended by senior provincial officials, while divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners joined via video link.
The chief secretary directed all district-level government offices to integrate with the e-filing system, known as e-Faas, to ensure that official correspondence is conducted entirely through digital channels.
He announced that from July 1, all field offices across Punjab will be required to use the e-Faas system for official communication.
The meeting also reviewed progress on IT reforms and digital governance initiatives. Officials praised the performance of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for its role in implementing technological reforms and supporting the province’s digital transformation agenda.
According to officials, the transition to a paperless system is expected to improve transparency, efficiency, and the speed of administrative processes while reducing reliance on traditional paperwork.
The conference also commended the province-wide cleanliness operation carried out during Eid al-Adha, describing it as a successful administrative effort.
Government sources said the latest measures represent a significant step toward modernizing public administration in Punjab and enhancing the delivery of public services through the use of technology.
