The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has decided to launch a crackdown on major food chains found violating tax laws across the province.

During a review meeting, PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra directed officials to take strict action against businesses that failed to comply with previous directives.

According to the authority, ongoing monitoring has uncovered repeated tax violations by several food chains, including multinational brands. The PRA said business activities are being tracked through digital surveillance, data analytics and Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.

The authority is stepping up efforts to recover unpaid taxes, impose penalties and initiate legal action against entities involved in tax fraud.

Sipra emphasized the need for decisive measures against businesses causing losses to the public exchequer and said enforcement, audit mechanisms and the use of technology would be further strengthened to improve tax compliance and achieve revenue targets.
