Punjab has established its first dedicated pediatric burn unit at Children’s Hospital Lahore to provide specialized treatment for children with burn injuries.

The Punjab Health Department has set up the facility on the upper floor of the hospital’s existing Diagnostic Block. The unit has a total of 30 beds, including eight ICU beds for critical cases.

The new facility also has three fully equipped operation theaters for surgeries, strengthening the hospital’s capacity to treat children with serious and complex burn injuries.

Authorities have completed the recruitment of consultant staff for the unit. Medical officers and nursing staff have also been deployed to provide round-the-clock care, while paramedical staff will assist with emergency and post-operative services.

The dedicated facility is expected to improve access to specialized burn treatment for children and reduce pressure on general burn wards.
