The acid burn treatment centre for women injured in acid attacks has been made functional at Holy Family Hospital, the largest hospital in the city.
Acid burn treatment centres have also been established in six other cities of Punjab to provide free and immediate treatment to acid attack victims under the Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz initiative.
Officials said that along with strict legal action against those involved in burning the faces and other body parts of women and children with acid, a 35-bed acid burn centre has been set up at Holy Family Hospital to provide free and quality treatment without delay.
All treatment facilities have been made available at the centre. Women brought to the hospital with acid burns are shifted from the emergency department to the attached treatment unit, where they are immediately given pain relief and their regular treatment begins.
Medical Superintendent Holy Family Hospital Dr Ijaz Butt said the centres have been established for the first time in eight cities of Punjab, including Holy Family Hospital, under the Punjab Social Protection Department.
He said each centre provides immediate treatment facilities to affected women, children and men and helps them recover from the painful condition.
