The Punjab government has purchased five new cryoablation machines to expand access to advanced cancer treatment at major hospitals across the province. The machines, acquired on the directions of the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, have been dispatched for installation. Two will be installed at the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer in Lahore, while Nishtar Hospital, Allied Hospital, and Benazir Bhutto Hospital will receive one machine each.

Punjab introduced its first cryoablation machine at Mayo Hospital in 2025, where more than 70 Stage 1 cancer patients have since received successful treatment free of cost.

Officials said the addition of the new machines will help extend specialized cancer treatment to more cities and provide patients with faster access to advanced care.

Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood said the use of modern medical technology would strengthen Punjab’s healthcare infrastructure and improve access to specialized treatment.

He added that the government has already provided free cancer treatment worth billions of rupees to patients across the province.
