Punjab government has banned seven actresses and one actor from performing in theaters across the province over alleged violations of theater regulations and standard operating procedures.
According to authorities, the action was taken under the Dramatic Performances Act 1876 following complaints regarding obscene dances and inappropriate dialogues during theater performances.
Among those banned are actresses Silk Jutt, Resham Jan, and Goshi 2, while the restrictions will apply to theater performances throughout Punjab.
The provincial government said a zero tolerance policy was being implemented to promote family theater and preserve cultural values. Officials stated that strict action would continue against violations without discrimination.
Muhammad Mehboob Alam Chaudhry said promoting quality and family oriented theater remained the government’s top priority. The Punjab Arts Council also announced stricter enforcement measures and said theater rules and regulations would be implemented more strictly across the industry.
