The Punjab Information and Culture Department has imposed a one-month ban on eight stage actresses over alleged obscene dance performances and inappropriate gestures.

The provincial government issued a notification to enforce the ban after a monitoring report from the Punjab Council of the Arts.

According to the department, action was taken against the performers for vulgar and immoral dance moves and unsuitable gestures during stage shows.

The actresses named in the notification include Mahi Rajput, Hina Sheikh and Malaika Shehzadi, who have each been barred from performing for one month.

Madiha Khan, Mehak Noor and Mano Multan have also been banned for one month, while Raima Mehr and Hasna Jutt will also not be able to perform in theatre for the same period.

Officials have directed all relevant authorities to strictly implement the ban order.

Pukar Director Mughees bin Aziz said action is being taken across Punjab on the basis of monitoring reports of stage dramas.
