The Punjab government has approved a new selection mechanism for hiring doctors and medical specialists across the province.
Under the new policy, special selection committees will handle recruitment for newly established healthcare centres.
The government said posts from BS-17 and above will be filled strictly on merit through these committees.
Officials said the move aims to ensure a transparent and efficient recruitment process for qualified healthcare professionals.
The government has also finalized the procedure for appointing doctors and specialists at new health centers on a contract basis.
These appointments will be made only after recommendations from the designated high-level committees.
According to the approved framework, the Executive Director, Principal or Head of the relevant institution will serve as convener of the selection committee.
The committees will also include commissioners, senior professors and experienced government officials.
The Punjab government’s Regulation Wing has formally approved the Health Department’s request to implement the new recruitment mechanism.
The Finance Department said funding for these appointments will come from the department’s internal budget resources.
