Punjab has allowed individuals aged 16 to 18 to obtain juvenile driving permits for motorcycles and scooters.

According to DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir, the permits will be issued by traffic police from this week. Permit holders will only be allowed to ride motorcycles or scooters with engine capacities of up to 125cc.

The annual permit fee has been fixed at Rs. 500, while applicants must possess a Smart National Identity Card or B-Form.

Officials said applicants will be required to submit written parental consent and pass both a sign test and a road test before obtaining the permit.

The traffic police warned that permits may be cancelled in cases of serious or repeated traffic violations. The initiative has been introduced to allow young riders to legally operate motorcycles while promoting compliance with traffic laws.
