The Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation has invited objections and suggestions from the public regarding proposed names for the District Courts Chowk and the adjacent Jinnah Park flyover and underpasses.

The chief officer of the corporation has proposed naming the Kutchery Chowk flyover and underpass “Marka-e-Haq Flyover and Underpass.”

Citizens have also started submitting alternative proposals. A resident, Raja Najeeb, opposed the suggested name and proposed “Mohsin-e-Pakistan Flyover and Underpass” in honor of Abdul Qadeer Khan.

Separately, the underpass at Ammar Chowk has been proposed to be named “Fazaia Underpass.”

Meanwhile, the cost of the Kutchery Chowk remodeling project has been increased from Rs. 14 billion to Rs. 19 billion, and the completion deadline has been extended from April 30 to the end of May.

Best is to leave the name as it is. Everyone knows these existing names and the location, and the names are related to that location.
