Google did not introduce a new pair of Pixel Buds alongside the Pixel 11 series, but it has given the existing Pixel Buds Pro 2 a new Olive color and several new software features.
The Olive version is available to order from August 12.
One of the biggest additions is Dynamic Active Noise Cancellation.
Google says the feature can compensate for small changes in the seal between the earbuds and the user’s ears. This allows the Pixel Buds Pro 2 to maintain effective noise cancellation even when their fit shifts slightly during use.
The hardware itself remains unchanged, with the Olive model offering the same specifications as the existing Pixel Buds Pro 2.
Google is also improving Live Translate. Users can now tap their Pixel Buds Pro 2 to activate listening mode and translate speech across more than 70 languages in near real time without first interacting with their phone.
The feature also works in the opposite direction. Users can speak in their own language, and their Pixel phone can play the translated speech to the other person in their language.
Gemini can now control Pixel Buds settings through voice commands. For example, users can ask Gemini to increase the bass without manually opening the earbuds’ settings.
Google is also adding Pixel Watch sleep synchronization. When a connected Pixel Watch detects that the user has fallen asleep, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 can automatically pause audio playback, disable touch controls, and silence notifications.
Google says the new Pixel Buds Pro 2 software features will begin rolling out in September.
Like the existing colors, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are currently discounted to $189, down from their regular $229 price.
