Pakistan Railways has temporarily suspended the operation of eight passenger trains amid rising operating expenses and declining passenger traffic on several routes.
The suspended services include Bolan Mail, Khushhal Khan Khattak Express, Mehran Express, Chaman Passenger, Marvi Express, Saman Sarkar Express, Moenjodaro Express and Ravi Express.
According to a spokesperson for the state-run railway operator, the decision was taken due to increasing operational costs, which have made it difficult to continue running certain services.
Railway sources said higher fuel expenses, particularly following recent increases in petroleum prices, have placed additional financial pressure on train operations. The situation has been compounded by low passenger numbers on some routes.
Officials described the suspension as a temporary measure and said the affected services would be restored once operational conditions improve. Pakistan Railways is reportedly reviewing fuel costs and passenger demand before making further decisions regarding the resumption of the suspended trains.
