The Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) on Tuesday extended restrictions on Indian aircraft using Pakistani airspace until June 24.

According to a fresh Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the PAA, Pakistani airspace will remain closed to all aircraft registered in India.

The restrictions also apply to aircraft operated, owned, or leased by Indian airlines and operators, including military aircraft.

The NOTAM stated that the ban covers both of Pakistan’s Flight Information Regions, Karachi and Lahore.

The latest extension was announced days before the previous restrictions were due to expire on May 24. The continued closure has forced Indian airlines to use longer alternative routes for flights to Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia, increasing travel times and operational fuel costs.
