Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Timothy Kane has shared an updated travel advisory for Pakistan, urging Australian citizens to reconsider their need to travel to the country amid an unpredictable security situation and the possibility of sudden disruptions.
The advisory asks Australian travelers to avoid large gatherings, demonstrations and protests, warning that such events can turn violent quickly. Travelers have also been advised to monitor local media and follow instructions issued by local authorities.
The Australian government said military activity along Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan could affect the wider security environment. It also warned that movement restrictions, road closures, transport disruptions and increased security measures may occur at short notice, particularly around government institutions, places of worship and security checkpoints.

Australian citizens and Pakistani-Australian dual nationals have been advised to travel on a valid Australian passport. The advisory said dual nationals traveling on a Pakistani passport could face difficulties leaving Pakistan or traveling to Australia without a valid Australian passport.
Australians of Afghan heritage may also face increased scrutiny by Pakistani authorities, including questioning or detention, even when holding valid visas.
