Sharjeel Inam Memon announced on Tuesday that a new Peoples Bus Service route will be launched in Hyderabad after Eid ul Adha 2026 as part of the provincial government’s efforts to expand public transport services.
Speaking during a Sindh Assembly session, he said the new route in Hyderabad would operate from Latifabad to Hyder Chowk.
The senior minister said additional routes in Karachi could not currently be launched due to a shortage of buses, adding that new routes would be introduced once more buses become available.
Sharjeel Memon also directed that Peoples Buses should stop only at designated bus stops. He said passengers often try to stop buses at unauthorized locations, which sometimes leads to disputes and incidents of damage to buses.
He further stated that development work was continuing across Sindh, including Karachi.
Separately, the senior minister said the Sindh government had approved the procurement of 500 new electric buses under a public-private partnership model to improve and modernize the province’s public transport network.
