Officials have found technical faults in six of the 11 electric buses deployed in Murree under the Punjab government’s Green Bus Electric Bus Project. Murree Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi took immediate notice of the issue and personally visited the buses with a technical team to inspect their condition.
He also wrote to the Transport Secretary, seeking immediate repairs and complete technical clearance for the affected buses. According to officials, Chinese engineers will visit Murree to identify and fix the technical faults and conduct a comprehensive inspection of all the buses.
The deputy commissioner has directed officials not to allow any of the buses on the roads until technicians declare them fully fit and provide the required technical clearance. The district administration said it would take all necessary precautionary measures to protect citizens and tourists from inconvenience and substandard services.
Officials said the administration would provide safer and better transport facilities once technicians declare the buses fully operational.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had directed the authorities to hand over 11 electric buses to the Murree district administration in June. The project aims to reduce environmental pollution and provide modern, safe and comfortable transportation for residents and tourists.
