Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Nabil Gabol has come under criticism after a video showing him riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet on a busy Karachi road went viral on social media.
The clip shows Gabol riding through what has been described as Lyari, navigating traffic alongside rickshaws, motorcycles, and pedestrians.
In the video, the veteran politician, dressed in a light grey shalwar kameez, is seen smiling and turning toward the camera while riding the motorcycle without any visible protective headgear.

People questioned whether influential public figures are exempt from traffic enforcement, asking why Gabol had not received an e-challan despite helmetless riding being a traffic violation for ordinary motorists.
Pakistan’s traffic laws require both motorcycle riders and passengers to wear helmets, with violations punishable through fines, including e-challans in cities where the system is operational. Authorities have regularly urged motorcyclists to wear helmets to reduce fatalities and serious injuries in road accidents.
The incident has sparked debate online, with many social media users calling for traffic laws to be enforced equally, regardless of a person’s political status or influence.
As of now, neither Nabil Gabol nor the relevant traffic authorities have publicly commented on the viral video or whether any enforcement action has been taken.
