Lahore Traffic Police has intensified its crackdown against traffic violations on model roads across Lahore, with action taken against more than 42,000 vehicles and motorcyclists so far this year.
According to official figures, authorities impounded 18,141 motorcycles over dangerous driving violations. Traffic police also took action against 12,289 motorists and motorcyclists for lane-line violations.
Meanwhile, 164 motorcyclists were fined for disrupting traffic flow, while challans were issued to 395 underage drivers. Officials said action was also taken against 2,289 vehicles for one-way violations and 616 vehicles for breaking traffic signals.
In addition, 10,114 motorcyclists were fined for riding without helmets. Traffic police further issued challans to 3,819 individuals for driving without valid licenses.
Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi urged citizens to follow traffic rules to help reduce accidents and traffic congestion in the city.
