Lahore traffic police have prepared a list of the top 100 e-challan defaulter vehicles as authorities move to intensify action against unpaid traffic fines.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Sherazi has directed e-challan recovery squads to launch strict action against defaulters. During a meeting with the squads, he handed over the list of the top 100 defaulter vehicles and ordered effective tracking with the support of Safe City.
According to the CTO, e-challans are being issued for more than 20 traffic violations through ANPR technology. He directed officials to immediately impound vehicles with unpaid e-challans at police stations, adding that special teams have been activated for the operation.
He said Safe City, police service centers, and the licensing system have been integrated to speed up action against defaulters. The CTO added that 14 key police services have also been restricted for e-challan defaulters.
The development comes as Punjab authorities have also started strict enforcement against motorcyclists riding without helmets. Officials said motorcycles of violators will now be impounded for one day in addition to challans.
Authorities said helmet use has been made mandatory across the province to protect citizens and reduce road accidents. Enforcement has formally started to ensure 100 percent helmet compliance.
Meanwhile, a new digital challaning system has also been introduced in Lahore and across Punjab. Under the system, every traffic challan will now be issued with complete evidence to improve transparency and enforcement.
