Traffic police in Lahore have intensified a crackdown against traffic violations on model roads under an ongoing enforcement campaign, taking action against thousands of motorists and motorcyclists over the past two weeks.

According to Lahore Traffic Police, action was taken against 33,456 vehicles and motorcycle riders during the campaign. Officials said 14,354 motorcycles were impounded at different police stations for dangerous driving, while 9,839 motorists and riders faced action for lane line violations.

Traffic police also issued challans to 123 motorcycle riders for obstructing traffic flow and to 234 underage drivers. According to the data, action was taken against 1,945 vehicles for one way violations, while 234 motorists were fined for violating traffic signals.

Authorities further said 8,419 motorcyclists were challaned for riding without helmets. During a general hold up operation conducted recently, traffic police also took action against 1,819 people for driving without licenses.

Officials said Safe City cameras are being used for live monitoring of major roads and model routes across Lahore. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi directed divisional SPs and circle officers to further strengthen the crackdown and urged citizens to follow traffic laws.
