Lahore Waste Management Company has issued a tender worth more than Rs23 crore for a large-scale cleanliness operation during Eid al-Adha in Lahore.

The company will run a three-day sanitation campaign across nine towns to ensure the quick disposal of sacrificial waste.

Officials said the operation will deploy nearly 2,000 heavy machinery units, including 979 dumpers, 330 excavators, 492 trolleys, and 199 loaders.

Under the plan, Allama Iqbal Town received the highest allocation of Rs6.21 crore for the deployment of 274 dumpers and 82 excavators. Nishtar Town was allocated Rs3.19 crore, while Samanabad and Gulberg towns received Rs2.94 crore and Rs2.47 crore respectively.

Ravi Town has been allocated Rs 1.19 crore, Shalimar Town Rs 1.96 crore, and Wagah Town Rs 1.55 crore for the Eid cleanup operation.

According to tender documents, the daily rent for a dumper has been set at Rs149,743, while excavators will cost Rs144,659 per day. Tractor loaders and trolleys will cost Rs 65,837 and Rs 56,667 per day, respectively.

Contractors must provide drivers, helpers, and fuel along with the machinery. Authorities directed contractors to deliver all equipment to collection points by 9 pm the night before Eid. The machinery will operate for up to 16 hours daily during the campaign.

Officials said last year’s Eid sanitation operation cost over Rs20 crore, but rising inflation increased this year’s estimated expenses to more than Rs23 crore.
