The Punjab Ring Road Authority has announced a series of measures to improve infrastructure, traffic management, and revenue collection on the Lahore Ring Road.
Ring Road Authority Chairperson Safiullah Gondal said a comprehensive plan has been prepared to reconstruct and rehabilitate service lanes that have remained neglected for years. The work will be completed in phases to provide motorists with safer and better travel facilities.
The authority has also set a target of collecting around Rs. 400 million in no-objection certificate fees from businesses using Ring Road service lanes for commercial purposes without making the required payments.
The revenue generated through these fees will be used for improvement and development projects on the Ring Road.
Gondal said the authority has also developed a plan to gradually convert all streetlights on the Ring Road to solar power. The initiative is expected to reduce energy costs and promote an environmentally friendly lighting system.
In another major step, the authority has decided to upgrade policing and traffic enforcement in line with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority model.
Under the new automated system, traffic will be monitored continuously, while cameras will automatically detect violations. An electronic challan system will also be introduced to strengthen enforcement.
The Ring Road Police will work with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority and use modern technology to ensure compliance with traffic laws. The measures are expected to improve traffic discipline and provide a safer travel environment for motorists.
Gondal said the authority would strengthen its revenue system through technology, transparency, and administrative reforms. He added that all available resources would be used to provide travel facilities that meet international standards.
