Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has inaugurated a Digital Licence Management System for issuing driving licences under the provincial Transport Department.
Addressing the launch ceremony, the chief minister said the system introduces a fully digitized process for licence issuance aimed at improving public facilitation while ensuring transparency and merit.
He said the initiative is part of broader digital reforms being implemented across sectors, including e-governance, online services, and digital payments, to modernize public service delivery.
Officials said that since the pilot phase, 19,966 learner licences and 2,212 permanent licences have been issued, generating Rs. 50 million in revenue.
Under the new system, citizens can apply through the Dastak app and web portal, while features such as AI-based facial recognition, online medical certificates, QR code verification, and a centralized database have been introduced to streamline the process.
