The Karachi administration has launched a major crackdown on illegal cattle markets across the city ahead of Eid al-Adha on the directives of Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi.

Officials said authorities had arrested several individuals and registered cases against those involved in setting up unauthorized animal sale points in different districts of the metropolis.

During an operation in Shah Faisal Colony, authorities removed an illegal cattle market and arrested one person involved in the activity.

Deputy Commissioner Central Taha Saleem said officials also cleared an illegal cattle market at Piyala Hotel and deployed personnel at the site to prevent traders from re-establishing the market.

He added that the location had been cleared multiple times in the past, but continuous enforcement operations were necessary to ensure compliance with official directives.

In the Korangi district, Deputy Commissioner Masood Bhutto said authorities removed several illegal cattle markets operating in Makhdoom Society, Korangi No. 5, Nasir Jump, New Town, Chakra Goth, Shah Faisal, and Reta Plot.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Keamari Ameer Afzal Awaisi confirmed that illegal animal markets at the Mauripur truck stand had also been dismantled. He said the unauthorized setups were causing severe traffic congestion on roads leading to Hawke’s Bay.

Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi said illegal cattle markets were creating sanitation problems and traffic disruption across Karachi.

He added that district administrations, in coordination with police, would continue operations to maintain order and ensure smooth Eid al-Adha arrangements.
