A significant development project has been initiated to directly link Margalla Road with the motorway, aimed at easing travel for citizens. The project was visited by Federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, who inspected the ongoing construction activities and was briefed on the details of this mega project. The initiative is set to enhance connectivity between Islamabad and the motorway, providing a faster, more convenient route for commuters. The 2.7-kilometer-long project will involve the construction of a three-lane road on both sides, along with a two-lane service road. In addition, two underpasses and one bridge will be built on the GT Road to facilitate smoother traffic flow.

The initiative is set to enhance connectivity between Islamabad and the motorway, providing a faster, more convenient route for commuters. The project aims to reduce congestion on existing routes, improve accessibility, and shorten travel time for commuters between the city and the motorway. During the visit, the Interior Minister was provided with a detailed briefing on the project’s scope, and specific instructions were given to ensure its timely completion. Mohsin Naqvi directed that the Sangjani Interchange on the GT Road be completed by July 31, 2026, to ensure smooth integration with the larger infrastructure plan.

The project is expected to significantly reduce traffic pressure on the surrounding roads, offering an alternative route for travelers. Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that the government is committed to providing citizens with improved and faster travel facilities. He assured that all necessary resources would be mobilized to complete the project within the scheduled time frame.

The minister also highlighted the importance of maintaining quality, transparency, and efficiency throughout the project’s execution. He stated that the government’s primary responsibility is to ensure the welfare of the people by improving transportation infrastructure.

The project, which is expected to be completed by December 2026, will see a 2.5-kilometer-long section built by the Punjab government. Key officials, including the Chairman of the CDA, IG Islamabad Police, and the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, were present during the minister’s visit.
