Authorities in Islamabad have closed major hiking trails and implemented a comprehensive traffic plan amid heightened security arrangements.

According to an official notification, Trail 2, Trail 3, Trail 4, and Trail 5 have been closed effective April 20.

The Islamabad Traffic Police has issued a detailed traffic plan, with several key routes either closed or subject to temporary suspension.

The Expressway from Korral to Zero Point will remain closed, while traffic on the Srinagar Highway may be halted intermittently.

The Red Zone and surrounding areas have been completely sealed for all types of traffic.

Residents of sectors G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6, and F-7 have been advised to use Margalla Road and Ninth Avenue for travel.

Additional diversions have been put in place from Faisal Avenue and Zero Point.

Authorities have suggested alternative routes, including Ninth Avenue, Stadium Road, Murree Road, and Rawal Road, in case of closures on major corridors.

Residents of Bhara Kahu have been advised to use Kurang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road, while commuters from Rawalpindi’s Saddar area can use Colonel Sher Khan Road and Fakir Aipi Road.

A ban has been imposed on heavy traffic entering the city until further notice. Vehicles traveling between Peshawar and Lahore have been directed to use motorway routes via Taxila and Chakri.

Authorities have urged transporters to avoid unnecessary travel to Islamabad and advised citizens to stay updated through official communication channels, including FM 92.4 and social media platforms.
