Field line staff of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) staged a protest today, Tuesday, outside the company’s headquarters in the G-7 sector against the proposed privatization of the organization.
The protesting employees refused to perform field duties and stopped responding to public complaints, disrupting routine operational work. They said they would continue their boycott until their concerns over privatisation were addressed.
The demonstration took place outside the IESCO headquarters, where workers raised slogans against the proposed policy and demanded that authorities reconsider or withdraw the plan.
They argued that privatisation could negatively affect job security and service conditions.
The suspension of field operations has raised concerns about possible delays in complaint resolution and maintenance services across Islamabad and surrounding areas. Authorities have not yet issued an official response regarding the protest.
