Huawei has launched the MatePad Pro Max globally at its “Now Is Your Spark” event in Bangkok on May 7.
The company says the tablet is the world’s thinnest and lightest 13 inch plus tablet. It measures 4.7mm thick and weighs 499 grams, making it thinner than Apple’s 13 inch iPad Pro M5, which measures 5.1mm. Despite its slim body, the tablet carries a 10,400mAh battery.
The MatePad Pro Max features a 13.2 inch flexible OLED display with a 3K resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels.
The panel supports a 144Hz refresh rate, 1,600 nits of peak brightness and 1440Hz PWM dimming for better eye comfort. Huawei has used 3.55mm ultra thin bezels, while the front camera is hidden inside the bezel.
The tablet is available in a standard version weighing 499 grams and a PaperMatte Edition weighing 509 grams. The PaperMatte Edition uses a nano etched anti glare display that reduces reflections and adds a paper like texture.
Color options include Shimmery Blue and Space Gray.
The MatePad Pro Max includes a 10,400mAh battery. It supports 66W fast charging and 40W reverse wired charging.
Huawei says the large battery inside the 4.7mm chassis is made possible by its Cloud Falcon Architecture and silicon carbon cell technology.
According to Android Central’s reviewer, the device did not feel like a 13 inch tablet with a 10,400mAh battery after handling it.
The tablet is powered by a Kirin 9 series chipset. Huawei claims the chip delivers a 20% performance improvement over the previous generation.
The device comes with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.
To manage heat, Huawei has added a dual layer VC cooling system with a 100% larger heat dissipation area compared with the previous MatePad Pro.
Huawei’s Cloud Falcon Architecture changes how internal components are placed inside the tablet.
Instead of using a traditional stacked layout, the structure spreads components more evenly across the chassis. This helps reduce thickness while preserving battery capacity.
The MatePad Pro Max is also the first tablet to receive TÜV Rhineland Ultra-Thin Bending Resistance Certification.
Huawei says the chassis resists bending and flexing at a level 60% higher than the previous generation.
The MatePad Pro Max runs HarmonyOS 4.3. Its Live Multitask feature allows three apps to stay open at the same time in a side-by-side comparison layout.
Huawei is also offering a Glide keyboard accessory, PC level WPS Office AI integration and GoPaint creative tools. The tablet includes a six-speaker system and four microphones, supporting video calls and content creation work.
The device is positioned as a productivity focused tablet aimed at users who want a laptop replacement rather than only a media consumption device.
