Pakistan Railways has restored the historic Babu Passenger train between Lahore and Lala Musa after a six-year suspension, providing commuters with another low-cost travel option along the route.
The 205 Up and 206 Down service resumed on the Lahore-Lala Musa-Lahore section on August 20, according to Pakistan Railways. The train will depart from Lahore Railway Station at 4:40 p.m. daily and reach Lala Musa at 7:45 p.m. after stops at Gujranwala, Wazirabad and Gujrat.
The return service will leave Lala Musa at 5:10 a.m. and reach Lahore at 8:15 a.m. Pakistan Railways had suspended the service shortly after the Covid-19 pandemic began.
The train consists of five economy-class coaches and a power van, offering an affordable travel option for passengers along the route. Railway officials decorated the train before its departure from Lahore on Thursday to mark the restoration. Passengers welcomed the resumption of the service and appreciated the move.
Lahore Divisional Superintendent Inamullah said the restoration would benefit commuters and added that Pakistan Railways would take further measures to improve travel facilities for passengers. He said the department would continue working to provide passengers with safe, comfortable and punctual travel services.
