The federal government has decided to include 24 new development projects in the budget for fiscal year 2026-27, with proposed allocations running into billions of rupees.
According to details, the government has prepared a proposal to allocate Rs. 26.46 billion for these schemes in the upcoming financial year.
Among the key proposed projects, Rs. 150 million has been earmarked for the construction of a new historical block at Mayo Hospital Lahore. Another Rs. 150 million has been proposed for the upgradation of the hospital’s OPD.
The government has also proposed Rs. 490 million for the construction of a new modern pharmacy at Children’s Hospital Lahore.
In addition, Rs. 550 million has been recommended for the upgradation of the Pathology Department at Children’s Hospital Lahore.
A further Rs. 300 million has been proposed for a new academic block at the College of Dentistry in Lahore.
Meanwhile, a separate proposal is under consideration for the purchase of the latest MRI machines and other medical equipment, with spending estimated at Rs. 7.4 billion.
The new projects appear to be focused heavily on strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Lahore, particularly in major public sector hospitals and teaching institutions.
If approved, the allocations will become part of the federal budget for 2026-27.
