A Senate committee has expressed strong concern over the transfer of Rs. 45 million allocated for the development of Mazar-e-Quaid to the Ministry of Education, directing the government not to divert funds meant for the national monument. The committee was informed that the federal government has approved a Rs. 295 million project for the renovation and upgradation of the Quaid-e-Azam Heritage Museum at Mazar-e-Quaid.

Officials said no funds had been released for the project in previous years. Although Rs45 million was earmarked in the current fiscal year to begin development work, the allocation was later shifted to the Ministry of Education.

Committee members expressed surprise and displeasure over the decision, questioning why funds allocated for one project had been redirected elsewhere.

Senator Zamir Hussain directed that development funds allocated for Mazar-e-Quaid should not be transferred to any other ministry and stressed that they must be used exclusively for the approved project.

He said the committee would closely monitor the utilization of the allocated funds in the coming months.
