Google has released a short teaser video on the homepage of its online store ahead of the Made by Google event scheduled for August 12 in New York City, where it plans to unveil the upcoming Pixel 11 series.
The teaser gives the first official look at a long-rumored feature called Pixel Glow. Similar to a traditional notification LED, Pixel Glow appears to be a circular light integrated inside the camera island that can display a full range of colors. The feature is expected to serve as an advanced notification light and will allow a full range of colors as shown in the video, although Google has not confirmed any customization options yet.
Google has also confirmed that pre-orders for the Pixel 11 family will open on August 12, the same day as the launch event. The teaser page highlights the new Pixel lineup alongside the company’s latest Gemini AI developments, suggesting artificial intelligence will once again be a major focus of the event.
The Pixel 11 lineup is expected to include the standard Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold.
While Google has revealed very little about the hardware, numerous leaks have already outlined what to expect from the Pixel 11 series. One of the biggest rumored upgrades is the Tensor G6 processor, which is widely reported to be manufactured by TSMC using its cutting-edge 2nm process, making it the first smartphone chip built on the company’s 2nm technology if the reports prove accurate. The move would give Google an early lead over upcoming smartphones expected to come with 2nm chips, such as the iPhone 18 series in September.
The shift to TSMC’s 2nm node is expected to deliver better power efficiency and improved thermal performance compared to previous Tensor chips. Although major performance gains are not expected, the new manufacturing process could help extend battery life while improving sustained performance during demanding tasks. Reports also suggest the Tensor G6 will be paired with MediaTek’s M90 5G modem, replacing Samsung’s modem technology in an effort to improve signal quality, connectivity, and power efficiency, areas that have drawn criticism on previous Pixel phones.
