Google could beat Apple to the launch of the first smartphone processor manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process, according to the latest industry reports.

The upcoming Tensor G6 is reportedly being produced using TSMC’s N2 technology and is expected to power the Pixel 11 series. Google has officially scheduled its next Made by Google hardware event for August 12, 2026, where the new phones are expected to be introduced.

Apple’s upcoming A20 and A20 Pro processors are also widely expected to use TSMC’s 2nm manufacturing process.

However, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup is not expected until September 2026. If the reported Tensor G6 specifications are accurate and the Pixel 11 reaches customers first, Google would become the first company to launch a phone with a TSMC-made 2nm processor.

Apple has traditionally been one of the earliest and largest customers for TSMC’s newest manufacturing technologies. Google securing an earlier consumer launch would therefore represent an unusual shift in the relationship between smartphone companies and the Taiwanese chipmaker.

Google has not officially confirmed that the Tensor G6 will use TSMC’s 2nm process.

Earlier reports also suggested that the company could use TSMC’s more established 3nm N3P process instead. The final manufacturing technology will therefore remain uncertain until Google formally announces the chip or the Pixel 11 is examined after launch.

TSMC confirmed that its N2 process entered volume production during the fourth quarter of 2025. The technology uses the company’s first generation of nanosheet transistors and is intended to improve performance and power efficiency compared with its previous nodes.

Some reports have described the Tensor G6 as the world’s first mass-produced 2nm smartphone processor. That description is not accurate without specifying TSMC.

Samsung’s Exynos 2600, manufactured using Samsung Foundry’s own 2nm process, already launched in selected Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Plus models earlier in 2026.

The Tensor G6 could instead become the first smartphone processor based specifically on TSMC’s 2nm technology to appear in a commercially available phone.

For now, the 2nm Tensor G6 remains an industry leak rather than a confirmed Pixel 11 specification. Google is expected to provide complete details at its August 12 launch event.
