The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested 16 agents and two officials during a crackdown on the passport agent mafia in Lahore.

The FIA’s Anti Corruption Circle raided areas outside passport offices in Garden Town, Shahdara, and Harbanspura, where it arrested 10 agents and two passport officials.

According to the FIA, the suspects illegally charged citizens extra money to process passports. They allegedly misled applicants by promising faster passport processing in exchange for additional payments.

During the operation, FIA teams recovered passports, tokens, bank challans, receipts, and other evidence from the suspects.

In a separate operation outside the Protectorate of Emigrants Office in Lahore, the FIA arrested six more agents. Investigators said the suspects illegally collected additional money from citizens seeking protector clearance. The suspects allegedly lured applicants by offering expedited protector clearance in return for extra payments.
