The CDA is conducting a survey to assess the number and quality of hotel rooms available in the capital and plans to prepare an inventory for SCO delegates. Officials said Islamabad has more than 4,000 hotel rooms, but around 1,000 do not meet international standards.

The CDA is conducting a survey to assess the number and quality of hotel rooms available in the capital and plans to prepare an inventory for SCO delegates. Officials said Islamabad has more than 4,000 hotel rooms, but around 1,000 do not meet international standards.

CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf said the authority would meet the target despite the challenge. He said the CDA would hold a conference with owners of top-class hotels and investors next week to encourage them to add rooms, complete ongoing hotel projects and consider new hotel developments.

Ashraf said several new hotels under construction would become operational next year, adding that the capital would have more rooms than required for the SCO conference.

He said the prime minister and interior minister had directed the CDA to focus on the hotel industry ahead of the event. Islamabad will also host other major events next year, including the South Asian Games and an International Olympic Committee meeting.

The CDA will also keep government facilities, including Ghandhra Club and other government buildings, available as backup accommodation for SCO delegates.
