The Capital Development Authority (CDA) carried out a total of 15,099 operations against illegal encroachments during the last 10 years, retrieving 38,301 kanals of land and demolishing 92,702 illegal structures.

According to official data shared in the Senate in a written reply by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the anti-encroachment campaigns also resulted in the recovery of Rs49.661 million in penalties during the period from 2016-17 to 2025-26.

The document stated that the CDA administration is currently engaged in the calculation and demarcation of CDA-acquired land in Islamabad through the Planning Wing CDA-GSTW and IT(P).

It further said that detailed information regarding land under illegal occupation has been compiled, while year-wise data of ejectment operations conducted over the last decade has also been provided.

According to the official figures, CDA conducted 1,913 operations in 2016-17, demolishing 3,261 structures, imposing penalties worth Rs. 1.482 million and retrieving 423 kanals of land. In 2017-18, the authority carried out 1,984 operations, demolished 3,236 structures, imposed Rs. 5.472 million in penalties and retrieved 640 kanals.

During 2018-19, CDA launched 1,207 operations, demolished 6,399 structures, recovered Rs. 1.740 million in penalties and retrieved 6,720 kanals of land. In 2019-20, it conducted 964 operations, demolished 6,717 structures, imposed penalties of Rs. 0.972 million and retrieved 2,650 kanals.

The data showed that in 2020-21, CDA conducted 2,151 operations, demolished 11,920 structures, imposed Rs. 5.456 million in penalties and retrieved 952 kanals of land. In 2021-22, it carried out 1,014 operations, demolished 5,377 structures, imposed Rs. 3.992 million in penalties and retrieved 1,263 kanals. During 2022-23, CDA conducted 1,512 operations, demolished 10,284 structures, imposed Rs. 4.500 million in penalties and retrieved 7,999 kanals.

In 2023-24, the authority carried out 1,648 operations, demolished 11,756 structures, recovered Rs. 10.030 million in penalties and retrieved 8,520 kanals of land.

The document further revealed that in 2024-25, CDA conducted 1,550 operations, demolished 6,794 structures, imposed penalties worth Rs. 13.814 million and retrieved 2,230 kanals of land.

In 2025-26, the authority carried out 1,156 operations, demolished 26,958 structures, imposed Rs. 2.203 million in penalties and retrieved 6,904 kanals. The figures reflected continued anti-encroachment operations by CDA across Islamabad aimed at reclaiming illegally occupied state land and removing unauthorized constructions.
