Microsoft has announced significant price increases for several Xbox consoles, citing rising memory chip costs, just hours after Apple unveiled higher prices for its MacBooks and iPads.
The biggest increases affect the flagship Xbox models. The Xbox Series X (1TB) now costs $799, up $150, while the Xbox Series X Digital (1TB) has risen by $150 to $749.
The Xbox Series S (1TB) also received a $150 increase, taking its price to $599, while the 512GB version now costs $499, up $100.
The latest move comes amid mounting pressure on hardware manufacturers from rising component costs, particularly advanced memory chips used in AI servers and consumer electronics.
Booming demand for AI infrastructure is tightening supply and pushing up prices for key components, increasing costs for device makers.
Microsoft’s announcement follows Apple’s decision to raise MacBook and iPad prices. Higher semiconductor costs are beginning to filter through to consumer electronics.
